Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing’s Financial Aid Process
Students who are accepted and have submitted the acceptance fee to the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing will be mailed the financial aid packet to their permanent address. The 2013-14 DSON Financial Aid Application will include specific directions and forms that must be submitted to be considered for financial aid.
The Office of Financial Assistance provides accepted and current students the opportunity to meet with the Coordinator of Student Financial Aid Services to assist with the financial aid process. Claire Tatlow, the Financial Aid Coordinator, is available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or by appointment. The Financial Aid Office will notify students when their financial aid files are incomplete. Failure to comply with request for information could result in loss of a financial aid award. Please note that students with a baccalaureate degree are not eligible to receive a Federal Pell grant or a Pennsylvania state grant. Students with prior baccalaureate degrees are eligible for the DL Stafford loans and could qualify for the Abington Memorial Hospital Women’s Board Scholarship.
Financial Aid Application
Students who have accepted the offer of acceptance at Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing and the school has received the student’s acceptance fee, the Financial Aid Office will mail a detailed financial aid packet to the student’s home. Requirements for Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing Financial Aid
- Submit the 2013-14 FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. Students must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non citizen, have a valid Social Security Number, not be in default of any Title VI funds, have a high school diploma or GED or meet state law requirements for a high school certificate.
- Complete the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing Women’s Board Scholarship Application.
- If you are planning to apply for a Federal Direct Stafford Loan, complete a Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling session at www.studentloans.gov.
- Submit the 2013-14 Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing DL Stafford Loan Request Form. Students must meet the Federal eligibility requirements set forth by the Department of Education.
Financial Aid Award Notification
Students who have submitted all of the necessary financial aid documents will receive an estimated Financial Aid Award Letter, which is a notification of their offer for financial assistance for which they qualify. The Financial Aid award letter is mailed to the student’s permanent address in May or June prior to the start of the fall semester. Students who receive additional financial aid assistance from an outside source, such as employer reimbursement, are required to inform the Office of Financial Assistance.
The Financial Aid Award letter will show the federal and state grants that a student is eligible to receive for the 3 academic terms. The Award letter will also show the DL Stafford loan, if the student completed the Master Promissory Note, entrance counseling and the DL loan request form.
Financial aid is disbursed after the start of class for each term. A student’s financial aid file must be complete in order to have their financial aid credited to their tuition account. However, estimated financial aid can be deducted from Tuition and Fees. The financial aid will appear on the students account statement or tuition bill as a credit, which will reduce the amount the student owes.
Crediting Financial Aid to Students Account
Each term the student’s estimated financial aid which includes grants, scholarships and loans will be deducted from the specific terms tuition and fees. The student will receive a bill or account statement for the term. Payments for the balance owed can be paid by check or money order made payable to the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing. Students can pay by credit card at the cashier’s office in the Shorday Lobby of Abington Memorial Hospital.
Tuition Refund Policy
Full tuition payments are refundable to the student prior to the first day of class. Institutional fees are non refundable.
If a student begins a term and then withdraws at any time, regardless of the reason, a tuition refund will be processed according to the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing Handbook (Steeple) under Refund Policy and Procedures. A student leaving the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing program for any reason is requested to submit a letter to the Director of Nursing Education Chair. A student will be considered to have withdrawn if he/she does not complete all the days.
Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing does comply with the required return of funds calculation for Title VI funds as set forth in the Federal Regulations.
