Abington Memorial Hospital

The five-story, 360,000-square-foot Lenfest Pavilion opened in late 2005 to meet the growing needs of our community. Treatment space in the Pennock Emergency Trauma Center has FY 08 year-end data show solid growth with 39,557 admissions to Abington Memorial Hospital (AMH), a 7.5 percent increase and 96,723 visits to the Emergency Trauma Center, a 12 percent increase. A total of 33 new critical care beds and an additional 25 new maternity rooms are now available. New operating rooms with digital, voice-activated equipment were designed to enhance surgical efficiency and improve patient care. More and more easily accessible parking, a larger light-filled cafeteria, a fully equipped conference center and beautiful new main lobby, welcome patients and visitors to our hospital.

AMH has a strong educational mission and sponsors five residency programs – in family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery and dentistry. In addition, the hospital provides postgraduate medical education in affiliation with several area medical schools. The hospital also operates the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing, and has programs in radiologic technology and medical technology. AMH is affiliated with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Students have access to the Wilmer Memorial Medical Library, located in the Dixon Building, across the street from the hospital entrance. It includes a full library of medical and nursing books and journals as well as a computer laboratory with MEDLINE, an on-line data retrieval of medical articles and Internet connections.

The Abington Memorial Health Center, Schilling Campus, located in Willow Grove, PA 19090, serves as a major satellite of the hospital, offering outpatient healthcare services, medical and administrative offices, and conference and educational facilities.
