Abington Memorial Hospital
The five-story, 360,000-square-foot Lenfest Pavilion opened in late 2005 to meet the growing needs of our community. Abington Memorial Hospital (AMH) is the flagship 665-bed, regional referral center and teaching hospital, which has been providing comprehensive, high-quality services for almost 100 years. AMH offers comprehensive healthcare services at a level not often found in a community hospital; some of our key services include: The Pilla Heart Center including The Porter Institute for Valvular Heart Disease, The Rosenfeld Cancer Center, the Orthopaedic & Spine Institute, Neurosciences Institute with a comprehensive Stroke Center, Muller Center for Senior Health, and The Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as well as the most advanced robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Abington serves as the only trauma center in Montgomery County, treating more than 100,000 patients annually in the Emergency Trauma Center. AMH also delivers more than 5,000 babies each year and partners with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in inpatient pediatric care and surgery. Lansdale Hospital (LH) is a 125-bed, acute care hospital that provides a range of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services. The conveniently located facility includes an Emergency Department, the Orthopaedic & Spine Institute, Acute Rehabilitation services, a Sleep Center and a Wound Care Center. AMH has a strong educational mission and sponsors five residency programs – in family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery and dentistry. In addition, the hospital provides postgraduate medical education in affiliation with several area medical schools. AMH is affiliated with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Students have access to the Wilmer Memorial Medical Library, located in the Dixon Building, across the street from the hospital’s Widener Building entrance. It includes a full library of medical and nursing books and journals as well as a computer laboratory with MEDLINE, an on-line data retrieval of medical articles and Internet connections.
